The Warren City School District is committed to our youngest learners. Our state-rated, 5-star Preschool Program enrolls 3- and 4-year-old students. We are a curricular based program, with the motto “Read,Write & Play Everday!”
WCS Preschools will be in session Monday-Friday, with full-day and half-day programming.
Early registration is important. Priority is given to 4-year-old children.

With the latest declaration from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine on Sunday, March 22, 2020, I am announcing additional changes to Warren City School District Operations, effective Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

Please review the academic information/updates from Superintendent Steve Chiaro, Associate Superintendent Wendy Hartzell and WGH Principal Dante Capers. Our staff has been working diligently to ensure our students are served to the highest possible standard throughout the mandated statewide school closure. We will be launching our academic lesson program next week with each grade level receiving specific instructions.
WARREN – Warren City Schools is providing grab and go lunches for all district students at all of our five school buildings from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and several off-campus sites weekdays from Noon to 1 p.m. through the duration of the mandated statewide K-12 school closing.
To benefit from this program, students are asked to go the school building closest to where they live between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., regardless of where they are enrolled.
If the student is not within walking distance of the school, they may visit one of several off-campus/remote sites where grab and go lunches are being distributed from Noon to 1 p.m. A clearly marked Warren City Schools vehicle will be at each site to help identify it as a meal distribution location.

Krista Monsman has always been about helping people.
And, remarked the Lincoln PK-8 School 2nd grader, “What better way to do that than to serve as a police officer?”
The 8-year-old, who uses a wheelchair for mobility, said she would like nothing better than to pursue a career in law enforcement.
On Wednesday, she was given the opportunity to serve as an honorary Warren City Police Officer for a day after being sworn in by Michael Currington, a Warren City Police and School Resource Officer, who presented her with a police photo ID.
During the ceremony, attended by Krista’s parents and grandfather, Lincoln 2nd-graders and school leaders, Warren Mayor Doug Franklin proclaimed the day, Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2020, as Krista Monsman Day.
“This proclamation is to Krista Monsman, a second grade student, for her care, and compassion for others, her willingness to learn and her positive attitude,” Mayor Franklin said. “She is an outstanding example to all, especially to her fellow students, and to me as the mayor.”
Krista was unaware of the ceremony until after she entered the school gymnasium and Officer Currington called her to the platform.
“Since I’ve known her she has always been such a friendly, helpful student,” Currington said. “She’s told me she wants to be a police officer. She’s got a big heart, huge personality, great sense of humor, is always willing to help, just a great all around kid. She has all the traits to be a great police officer.”
Monsman can look forward to many opportunities working in law enforcement, such as serving as a dispatcher, becoming an analysts, even specializing in investigating cyber crimes, noted Currington.
“I’m just really happy right now,” Krista said. “I’m so happy they made this happen for me, that (Officer Currington) did this. “It’s a perfect day.”
WARREN – Warren City Schools’ Jefferson PK-8 School will host its first Parent/Community Job and Resource Fair from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2020.
The event, featuring some 40 vendors, will help parents and families academically, financially, socially and emotionally by connecting them with community resources that are available to them.
Attendees will have access to information from local community mental health agencies, utility assistant programs, housing, job training, voting registration, tax filing, resume building, and much more.
Good Will Job Connection, Youngstown Warren Black Caucus, Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership and Trumbull County Mental Health & Recovery Board Council, along with numerous other agencies, churches and organizations, will have representatives on site.
Please note: Although the Job and Resource Fair is being held at Jefferson, it is a districtwide event open to residents of all Warren City Schools.
The event will also feature community speakers, job preparation assistance, college/career exploration, and on-site job applications.
Speakers will include Trumbull County Prosecutor Stanley Elkins, who will talk about drivers’ license reinstatement, truancy and having a record expunged.
Free refreshments will be available and childcare will be provided.

Dozens of Jefferson PK-8 students who participate in the WGH-Jefferson Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program spent some time recently touring Warren G. High School, opening presents and enjoying some snacks as part of a holiday-themed event.
The “Bigs” hosted the event at WGH and escorted the “Littles” through the school before presenting them with gifts and snacks. The Bigs/Little teams played games in the gym, read books and participated in other activities. The WGH-Jefferson Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program is the larges in Trumbull County.
