FROM SUPERINTENDENT STEVE CHIARO

With the latest declaration from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine on Sunday, March 22, 2020, I am announcing additional changes to Warren City School District Operations, effective Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

PLEASE NOTE: This communication, found in its entirety here, supersedes ALL prior communications regarding areas that differ as related to Governor DeWine’s March 22 declaration.

Please Review: Academic Updates from the Superintendent

Please review the academic information/updates from Superintendent Steve Chiaro, Associate Superintendent Wendy Hartzell and WGH Principal Dante Capers. Our staff has been working diligently to ensure our students are served to the highest possible standard throughout the mandated statewide school closure. We will be launching our academic lesson program next week with each grade level receiving specific instructions.

WCS to resume academic lessons for students, K-12, next week

Warren City Schools will resume academic lessons for students in grades K-12 starting next week.
The district will provide information to students and their families about academic lessons later this week.
District leaders will be meeting with the teaching staff this Thursday (March 19) and Friday (March 20) to communicate expectations for the delivery of academic lessons.
Additional information and updates will be provided through our automated call system and on the district’s website.

WCS distributing grab ‘n go lunches for students

WARREN – Warren City Schools is providing grab and go lunches for all district students at all of our five school buildings from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and several off-campus sites weekdays from Noon to 1 p.m. through the duration of the mandated statewide K-12 school closing.

To benefit from this program, students are asked to go the school building closest to where they live between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., regardless of where they are enrolled.

If the student is not within walking distance of the school, they may visit one of several off-campus/remote sites where grab and go lunches are being distributed from Noon to 1 p.m. A clearly marked Warren City Schools vehicle will be at each site to help identify it as a meal distribution location.

Families and community members with questions or concerns may call Warren City Schools Food Service Department at 330-841-2321.

Coronavirus Information

In Warren City Schools we are continuing to provide your child’s education in a clean and sanitized environment.  We have taken additional time and effort to disinfect common areas frequently visited by students.

Our nurses from Akron Children’s hospital are working to encourage and teach our students the importance and proper way to wash their hands as recommended by health officials, which experts say is the best precaution to take in preventing the spread of germs.

We have provided additional resources below.
