Warren City School Board of Education awarded an Ohio High School Diploma to David Eugene Cartwright, a US Military Veteran who served in Vietnam.

Superintendent Steve Chiaro presented Mr. Cartwright’s diploma to him at the Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021, School Board meeting.

Ohio Revised Code Section 3313.614 permits any school district to award a high school diploma to any resident of the state who meets the following eligibility requirements:

Veteran left public or nonpublic high school in Ohio to serve in the armed forces;

Veteran received an honorable discharge from the U.S. military; and

Veteran was in the U.S. Military between Sept. 16, 1940 and Dec. 31, 1946; June 27, 1950, to Jan. 31, 1955, or Aug. 5, 1964, to May 7, 1975.

Mr. Cartwright was on active duty between June 7, 1968, and Dec. 12, 1970.

The Warren G. Harding High School Marching Band made a strong showing Monday, Aug. 30, at Lakeview Band Night.

The night provided a glimpse of what Raider Band fans can expect this year.

Students and staff at Warren G. Harding High School gathered at Mollenkopf Stadium Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, to recognize the Class of 2022.

The names of the senior class members were called as they walked onto the field to be greeted by members of the junior, sophomore and freshmen classes.

From there, the seniors participated in a variety of activities, including a Senior Breakfast, all designed to help them kick off their final year of high school.

Warren City Schools staff traveled to Columbus Aug. 23 to collect PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) from the state of Ohio and returned with several pallets stacked full of supplies for Trumbull County schools.

The supplies will be distributed to public and private schools for students and staff to use as part of the ongoing efforts to help promote healthy habits as we kick off the 2021-22 school year.

John Lacy, WCSD Director of Business Operations, shown sorting supplies in the featured photo of this post, helped oversee the collection and distribution efforts. School leaders and staff sorted the supplies that will be distributed to schools on Friday, Aug. 27.

Warren City Schools staff greeted students Monday, Aug. 23, and welcomed them to the 2021-22 school year.

Many of the students said they were happy to be back in class and with their friends, teachers, principals and other school staff.

In-person learning is on a roll and Warren City Schools is the place to be!

Warren Mayor Doug Franklin joined Warren City Schools Superintendent Steve Chiaro, Chief Academic Officer Wendy Hartzell and Associate Superintendent of Student Services, Student Wellness and Success Dante Capers and other district leaders in welcoming school staff back to class!

This year’s convocation was held Thursday, Aug. 19, at Mollenkopf Stadium.

Masks are mandated on school buses. This video is to assist you and your children as you prepare for the 2021-2022 school year. 
Remember: EVERYONE riding a Warren City School District bus is required to wear a mask at all times on the bus. 

As K-12 schools prepare to start the new school year, Mahoning County Public Health, Youngstown City Health District, Columbiana County Health District, Trumbull County Combined Health District, and Warren City Health District support full in-person learning.

To facilitate and maximize keeping our students safe in the classroom, while also minimizing the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19, these health departments strongly recommend schools follow CDC guidance and adopt universal masking policies for all students, teachers, and staff regardless of their vaccination status.

Moreover, we are urging all parents to send their children to school properly wearing a facemask, covering the nose and the mouth, especially in situations where a school district has not adopted a universal mask policy.
