Career Cafe’s At Willard Grades 6-8

The 6-8 Pod at Willard PK-8 was thrilled to host our very own Mayor Franklin for a Career Cafe. Students got the opportunity to hear him speak about his role as the mayor including the day-to-day demands, his favorite part of the job, and the hard work it has taken him to be successful in his long-standing tenure as mayor of the city of Warren.
Career Cafes are a way for students to have conversations with professionals from a wide variety of career clusters in order to explore what career path might best fit them. They listen to speakers discuss their career field highlighting the education and training necessary, skills and abilities needed to be successful, and pros and cons of the career. Upcoming, we will be hosting Karisa Sava, owner of Smack by Karisa; Matt Schimley, owner of SouthSide Excavating; Patrick McFall, financial advisor for Ameriprise Financial; and artists from Nobility Tattoo.

The TCESC STEAM Program is an educational initiative sponsored by the TCESC to support the development of skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity for students. This year 3 Willard students participated in the 10-week program out at Lordstown HS. 6th Grade student Jacklyn Burdick explored Mixed Media and the Performing Arts and 5th Grade students Marcellus and Matteo Creighton explore the Coding & Robotics and Engineering programs.

These students participated in the TCESC STEAM Showcase on Wednesday December 3, 2025. Marcellus and Matteo demonstrated several of their projects that were on display and Jacklyn performed as a juror in the performance of Twelve Hangry Jurors. Congrats to these students on their dedication to this learning experience and their success in this program!
