Preschoolers at McGuffey PK-8 School recently explored mixing colors as part of a science experiment.
They followed a recipe of colors, water and a few other safe household supplies to create their own lava lamps.
Mrs. Gilligan, preschool teacher at McGuffey, pointed hands-on activities provide students with numerous benefits.
For example, students:
- Engage in learning from real experiences;
- Interact with their environment and each other;
- Use all of their senses to explore, create and learn;
- Engage multiple areas of the brain;
- Build fine motor skills.
“It was a big hit,” Mrs. Gilligan said.
