On “Twos”day, 2/22/22, the Lincoln administrative team organized a building-wide Reading Buddies activity for all of our students! Beginning at 9:30 AM and concluding at 10:00 AM, the classroom teachers worked together to have the older students read to the younger students.  It was a great experience for all of our students.

Can practicing for state testing be fun?

The answer is yes! Mrs. Collier had her 6th grade students on Gimkit a very cool website. Her students were on the Fishtopia mode on this fun site. They practiced state test questions in an engaging setting, earned bait to go fishing, caught rare fish and sold their fish while exploring the Fishtopia world. How did Ms. Collier know her students loved the site? Well, when they kept asking her for just 10 more minutes she concluded that they were having fun?

Similarities and Differences

Mrs. Richardson had a SEL activity in her 4th grade classroom where students were paired with partners to find their similarities and differences. The students recorded their discoveries and shared their observations. The conclusion was simple: They found that they are more the same than different! They also concluded that they MUST respect the differences! Awesome!

STEM Challenge in the 6th grade

STEM is an acronym for the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. Students were tasked with becomming Civil Engineers by building bridges in Mrs. Selak’s STEM class. The bridges had to be 14cm long. They were able to use marshmallows, toothpicks, heart and gummy candies. Mmmmm tasty! The students researched different types of bridges and shapes that would make the most sturdy structures.

The winning bridge was built by Ethan Johnson and Julius Walker who are working on it in the picture below.

Lincoln PK-8 Penny War

Lincoln will be having a penny war this month from February 14th to February 28th.

Put your spare change towards a great cause. All proceeds from our penny war fundraiser will go to support the United Way of Trumbull County.

Pennies are “Positive” and here is how it works:

  • Containers are located in the Main Hall by the Cafeteria.
  • Each penny counts as one positive point for YOUR grade level!
  • Each silver coin counts as negative points for OTHER grade levels. In other words, dropping a quarter in another grade’s bucket takes 25 points from their total.
  • At the end of the day on February 28th, all change/points will be tallied and the grade level with the most points will win a Pizza party!!!!

Start saving your change – it can make a big difference

PENNY WAR RULES

  • ADDING (+):
    • 1 penny = 1 point
  • SUBTRACTING (-):
    • 1 nickle = 5 points
    • 1 dime = 10 points
    • 1 quarter = 25 points
