Happy Veterans’ Day!

Warren G. Harding Students, led by the Social Study Department, are holding a Sock Drive from November 11-December 14, 2022. All Students and Staff are encouraged to bring in one pair of new socks that will be donated to our local veterans who are in need. To make the event extra fun, it will be a competition! The class that brings in the most socks will receive a prize! Let’s go Raiders!

Celebrating Perfect Attendance

!00+ students who achieved 100% attendance during the first 9-weeks were treated to a Waffel Bar Breakfast on Friday, November 4, 2022. Students loaded their waffles with strawberries, blueberries, and of course chocolate syrup, and whipped cream! Bacon, Sausage, juice, and milk were also a part of the celebration!

While they were visiting and eating their breakfast PBIS members, led by Mrs. Shimko, passed out perfect attendance certificates, congratulated students on their achievements, and encouraged them to continue working hard!

Thank you to Principal Williams, Mrs. Shimko, and her PBIS team!

Students Report: Goal Setting

By McKenzie Monsman

As the first quarter comes to an end, students are now reflecting on the past nine weeks. For those students who were unhappy with their grades, there are many ways to improve. Setting goals and deadlines for yourself is a big way to reflect and fix what didn’t go so well in the first quarter. A perfect way to set your goals is writing in a planner or calendar, or keeping reminders of your goals on post-it notes where you can see them every day. If you really want to see progress toward your goals you should have small goals that are easily achievable in the short term as well as goals that will take longer to achieve (maybe even the whole nine weeks). For more ideas and motivation to set your goals and achieve them, talk to your teachers or guidance counselors.

Students Report: Halloween

By: Monica Ruckman, Dallani Moore

For Halloween Warren G Harding students were invited to dress up. Many of them showed up and showed out in costumes. While keeping things school-appropriate, students showed off their costumes and even some teachers participated. Allowing students to dress up was an innovative way to keep school a fun learning environment. Students and teachers enjoyed seeing everyone in their costumes. Some of the favorite costumes of the day were Alvin and the Chipmunks, and a “Karen”. Some of the upperclassmen also participated in a trick-or-treat for preschool students who enjoyed getting to come to the high school and get candy!

The past Tuesday we celebrated the seniors of our hardworking Lady Raiders Volleyball team. The seniors this year are Brigid Faulk, Gianna DeMark, Gabbie Welker and Hailee Misel. Over the years they have put in many hours of practice to become the best players they can be. To recognize all their work and success, they were announced at the game and given gifts by coaches Annastacia Ray, Jamine Seawood and Rebecca Reed. Although the ladies did not win, they put in a great effort, it was a night full of memorable moments.

Cooking Classes are at it Again!

Once again this week in the WGH cooking classes, all groups were very eager to donate a portion of their group’s baked goods to a nonprofit organization in Warren.  Many students selected SomePlace Safe as their top choice this week to make a difference.  Several students said they selected this nonprofit organization due to the mission of SomePlace Safe and the impact that the hard-working staff members have had on domestic violence victims and their families in Warren over the years.  This afternoon, Sydni Strother, Sedona McQuaide, Gabby Moore, Ja’Mare Anderson, and Leo Peterson represented all 66 WGH cooking students by delivering 172 beautifully baked and decorate cupcakes to this well-deserving nonprofit organization.  The cooking classes truly made a difference to the loving staff as well as the residents of SomePlace Safe.

Students Report: Student Section

Written by Khyre Clinkscale and Morgan McLennan

The student section has been growing this year and it is all thanks to the Spirit club! The club is based on school spirit and hyping up our team. The student section looks amazing with everyone on theme and shouting chants; they are the heart of the school spirit! What some students are unaware of, however, are the rules and requirements of the student section, whether they are in the club or not. These rules include seniors having priority to the rail; if there is room, juniors are welcome. There is NO drama in the student section; all grades are welcome in the student section (the yellow painted area), and last, but not least, all students are required to BE LOUD! When the student section is loud the team gets hyped and that is the whole point. Additionally, the spirit club asks if you are sitting there complaining about the noise or people standing, that you please leave the section, the negativity is not appreciated. Many underclassmen were not happy about the rules and how seniors have the right to stand on the rail, but they must understand that this has always been a rule, it is tradition. From a senior’s perspective, we have put a ton of work into the student section like organizing the club, finding flag runners, making posters, and gathering more students, so we would appreciate it if everyone followed the rules. Remember to come support and have fun! GO RAIDERS!
