Welcome Club in the K-2 Pod

McGuffey has begun a “Welcome Club” for the K-2 pod.  Nine students from second grade were chosen by teachers to be the pioneers of welcoming first and second grade students and providing them with a sticker on their way into their classroom.   One Monday five of the students greet our Kindergarten students by telling them good morning, welcome to McGuffey or happy Monday.  The next week four students greet our first grade students.  This is a great way to improve the social skills of our second graders and give them a sense of purpose and being a part of something at McGuffey.  The first and second grade students feel welcome in our building and get to meet some of our older students.  Mrs. Redmond provided training for our Welcoming Club members and supervises during the welcoming times.

Staff Wellness Activity

As a part of our Social Emotional Learning days, McGuffey held a stocking decorating contest. They worked together to make some very creative designs. Judges from outside the building will determine a winner, and the McGuffey administrative team will provide the team with lunch catered by the local restaurant of their choice.
