Second and Third grade students at Jefferson had a fun time in phys. ed class completing several activities with a parachute. Students had to listen carefully to instructions and work together as a group to successfully complete each task.
Students in grades K-2 were treated to a morning of minute to win it type games as a celebration of becoming 100 days smarter here at the ‘J’. Students worked with staff to help complete the challenges. This has been a yearly tradition that everyone looks forward to.
Keeth Matheny, AKA “Coach Rudy”, a national award winning teacher, author, and speaker has had the opportunity to comes to Jefferson over the course of several days to speak with students and staff. He and his wife have given our teachers and students several SEL techniques to use within the classroom and in our own lives. We are grateful for his time and knowledge and look forward to seeing him again! Thanks, Coach Rudy!
Harding students that are a part of National Honor Society (NHS) recently visited our preschool classes. During their visit, students read to the students and gave them each a book. Students were all smiles and enjoyed visiting with their special guests.
Jefferson hosted its annual spelling bee for grades 3-5. Students worked hard to prepare for this event, practicing at school and at home. Congratulations to our winner; she will represent Jefferson at the regional spelling bee.
Thanks to the generosity of Believers Church, every student in grades K-2 received gifts before Christmas break. The church purchased the gifts, wrapped them, organized them by grade and class, and then delivered them to students at the school. Their heartfelt generosity doesn’t go unnoticed at Jefferson.
Students in grades 3 through 5 enjoyed a fun afternoon for our annual Snowflake Ball at Jefferson. Students earned points during the month of December in order to attend. They could also use their points to purchase snacks and glow sticks. Fifth grade students wrote an essay and based on their submissions, a king and queen was chosen.
Grades K-5 hosted a holiday themed family event here at the ‘J’. Families enjoyed cookie decorating, games, writing letters to Santa, face painting, ornament crafts, as well as a visit from the Grinch.
Jefferson hosted its annual Thanksgiving lunch the day before break. Our cafeteria staff always goes above an beyond to cook a true Thanksgiving feast for students and staff. A special thanks to all the volunteers that came out to help serve lunch.
