December 19, 2017 ~ Chipotle Fundraiser in Niles
Help our 8th graders go to Washington, DC in May by enjoying dinner at Chipotle in Niles. You can dine in or take out, you can go by yourself or take your family and friends. When you go to the cash register, just tell them that you are there for McGuffey and Chipotle will take care of the rest!
Limousine and Lunch Bunch
On November 27, 2017 eighteen students from third grade through 8th grade were taken by Limousine to Ponderosa for lunch. These students earned lunch by selling the most items of all the students at McGuffey from our fundraiser! Congratulations to all.
Up Coming December Events
Spirit of Christmas Award
Students of McGuffey were asked to write essays telling what Christmas meant to them. Our own Suzan, who is an 8th grader was chosen from McGuffey. Suzan received a certificate, rode in a carriage during the Christmas parade on Friday, December 2, 2017. Suzan also had dinner in the Mayor’s office, received a hat, scarf and gloves embroidered with “Spirit of Christmas” and lit the Christmas tree in the square with Mayor Franklin. Well done Suzan!
Congratulations to McGuffey’s Challenge 24 Team
Six of McGuffey’s students competed in the Trumbull County Challenge 24 Tournament; Kasey Benson, Max Burns, Jaylan Brown, Suzan Hunt, Chase Leonard and John Waldman.
Kasey, Suzan and Max advanced to the semi-final round in the 7/8 grade division of the Tournament.
Congratulations to all for their hard work and to Mr. Lloyd for his tireless Mentorship of our students!
4th Grade Peer Mediator Graduation
On Thursday, November 16, 2017 our fourth grade Peer Mediators received their graduation certificates after participating in classes. These mediators work with Mrs. Redmond to learn how to help other students mediate issues in the classroom and the hallways.
Congratulations to everyone!
7th and 8th Grade Veterans Day Program
Our Veterans Day Program was held on Friday, November 10, 2017. Students in 7th and 8th Grades were able to invite family members to who served in our Armed Forces or who are currently serving, to our program to be honored. We were very honored that so many Veterans came to be applauded. McGuffey is equally honored to have staff members who are Veterans; Mrs. Ryser, Mr. Reppart, Mrs. Nielson and Mr. Blair.
Thank you to our choir for your lovely performance.
