Warren G. Harding High School’s 2020 Commencement will be shown on the big screen at Elm Road Drive-In at 9 p.m. Thursday, May 21, with gates opening at 8 p.m.

This event is by invitation only and closed to the general public. Each graduate will be allowed entrance of one vehicle.

The time was selected in coordination with the drive-in, as the screening could only happen after dusk. The recording features members of the WGH Class of 2020 who were recorded May 13 and 14 walking across the stage at Harding while wearing their graduation caps and gowns. The two-day program for students and parents was held in compliance with the state’s social distancing guidelines.

The recording also includes remarks by U.S Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Howland, Warren Mayor Doug Franklin, Warren City Schools Superintendent Steve Chiaro Warren School Board of Education President Patricia Limperos, and Harding Principal Dante Capers.

Additionally, a number of WGH alumni have made musical contributions including Sean Jones, Dana Morgan, Dennis Drummond, and a “virtual” alumni choir made up of Madrigal Singers from graduating classes spanning over 20 years.

The ceremony will be streamed simultaneously online at  youtube.com/wscntv , as well as the WFMJ website in partnership with DRUND. Starting at 9 p.m. Thursday, May 21, the ceremony via YouTube and WFMJ can be viewed on most internet enabled devices. Although the YouTube app is not necessary, it would improve the experience for viewers. The commencement will remain posted to each website after the May 21 streaming.

The screening is not open to the general public. Each student who participated in the recording received one ticket for a vehicle to be admitted to the showing. However, as many family members as can safely be accommodated by the vehicle may attend. The drive-in event is open only to those students issued admission tickets. Guests will be permitted to bring their own refreshments.
