Written by Monica Ruckman, Dallani Morre, and Lilliahna Allen

The past Tuesday we celebrated the seniors of our hardworking Lady Raiders Volleyball team. The seniors this year are Brigid Faulk, Gianna DeMark, Gabbie Welker and Hailee Misel. Over the years they have put in many hours of practice to become the best players they can be. To recognize all their work and success, they were announced at the game and given gifts by coaches Annastacia Ray, Jamine Seawood and Rebecca Reed. Although the ladies did not win, they put in a great effort, it was a night full of memorable moments.

Cooking Classes are at it Again!

Once again this week in the WGH cooking classes, all groups were very eager to donate a portion of their group’s baked goods to a nonprofit organization in Warren.  Many students selected SomePlace Safe as their top choice this week to make a difference.  Several students said they selected this nonprofit organization due to the mission of SomePlace Safe and the impact that the hard-working staff members have had on domestic violence victims and their families in Warren over the years.  This afternoon, Sydni Strother, Sedona McQuaide, Gabby Moore, Ja’Mare Anderson, and Leo Peterson represented all 66 WGH cooking students by delivering 172 beautifully baked and decorate cupcakes to this well-deserving nonprofit organization.  The cooking classes truly made a difference to the loving staff as well as the residents of SomePlace Safe.

Students Report: Student Section

Written by Khyre Clinkscale and Morgan McLennan

The student section has been growing this year and it is all thanks to the Spirit club! The club is based on school spirit and hyping up our team. The student section looks amazing with everyone on theme and shouting chants; they are the heart of the school spirit! What some students are unaware of, however, are the rules and requirements of the student section, whether they are in the club or not. These rules include seniors having priority to the rail; if there is room, juniors are welcome. There is NO drama in the student section; all grades are welcome in the student section (the yellow painted area), and last, but not least, all students are required to BE LOUD! When the student section is loud the team gets hyped and that is the whole point. Additionally, the spirit club asks if you are sitting there complaining about the noise or people standing, that you please leave the section, the negativity is not appreciated. Many underclassmen were not happy about the rules and how seniors have the right to stand on the rail, but they must understand that this has always been a rule, it is tradition. From a senior’s perspective, we have put a ton of work into the student section like organizing the club, finding flag runners, making posters, and gathering more students, so we would appreciate it if everyone followed the rules. Remember to come support and have fun! GO RAIDERS!

Students Report: Homecoming

Written by Monica Ruckman

Saturday, September 24th Warren G Harding students came down to the carnival to enjoy their homecoming dance. With games like darts, cornhole, ring toss and so much more, students had many activities to fill their night with fun. Many students found interest in the free photo booth and really enjoyed taking pictures with their friends! As the night went on, the DJ played many songs students sang and danced along to. There was a brief period when it rained but that did not stop the fun, students continued to enjoy their night under the big top. The students really appreciated all the hard work Ms. Burns and Coach Dawn put into organizing the event and all the teachers who chaperoned and added to the fun of the night.

Students Report: Track

Written by Raziya Green and Kaiden Evans

Track is a running ability sport. At Warren G. Harding track is a sport that both boys and girls participate in. The sport has 44 different events for boys and girls to run. Track allows girls and boys to receive athletic scholarships to many different colleges. To participate in track, students don’t have to be runners.

Hurling, throwing and jumping are examples of non-running events in track. Relay races and long-distance races are other examples of the different events students can participate in as part of the track team. In order to join the track team students must meet all requirements including attending training and conditioning, have a GPA of at least 2.5 and attend school regularly with no unexcused absences. Students are also expected to stay in the W and maintain respectful representation in and out of school.

Students Report: Soccer

Written by Emily Trisler

Boys and Girls Soccer

The Warren G Harding boys and girls soccer teams have been working hard and practicing since earlier this year. Every single game these kids have played, they played hard. In fact, two of the players from the boys and girls soccer team have been made athlete of the week: Sophie Gardner and Nate James. As the games go on, more and more people show up to support the teams. We are encouraging more students to come to the games because soccer needs the same level of recognition from the students and community as other sports. Soccer is a very entertaining sport and many of the fans are engaged and excited so come and have fun. The soccer, and all other sports schedules are available on the Warren G Harding Athletic page.

Ms. Scarmack and Students Making a Difference

October is an exciting time in Ms. Scarmack’s Principles of Foods cooking classes as they participate in “Make a Difference October.”  Each week throughout the month of October, the cooking students will prepare baked goods and then decide as a lab group how much of their baked goods to donate to nonprofit organizations in Warren.

Students have spent time researching local nonprofit organizations and the organizations with the most votes will receive the donations over the next few weeks as a way to give back to the Warren community.  Today, October 5, 2022, four students were able to deliver 113 chocolate chip cookies, which were baked by all Principles of Foods students, to the Warren Family Mission.  Those four students were the following: Virgol Ball, Zachery Fannin, Emma Rittwage, and Cerenitie Wilson.
