Harding students volunteer their time once a month and travel to Jefferson PK-8 School as mentors to 3rd and 4th grade students. On Friday, December 15th, the Harding students brought gifts for their students. The students were also treated to activities and refreshments. Due to the program’s success, it has grown larger over the past year; as many as forty Jefferson students have a mentor thanks to this program. A special thank you to everyone that helps to organize this monthly event for the students.
The top sellers for our fall fundraiser were recently treated to a limo ride at Jefferson. These students were also entered into a drawing for a Toys R Us gift card and one lucky winner was chosen live on our morning announcements. Thank you to all the families that sold items for the fundraiser.

Jefferson students and staff enjoyed a Thanksgiving lunch provided by the wonderful cafeteria staff. Students and staff sat together and enjoyed turkey and all the sides. A special thank you to Believers Church for providing pumpkin pie for everyone; Thank you to Pastor Todd for organizing our community volunteers. This is an annual tradition that occurs here at the school.

Jefferson second and third grade students honored Veterans Day with a musical program filled with songs and poetry. Ms. Komsa led third graders from Mr. Seidel’s class; Ms. Turner led students from all second grade classes. Representatives and volunteers from the United Way treated second grade classes to a special classroom reading program called ‘Read 4 Fun’. Students were read a book and completed an activity. Students were also given a special gift of a drawstring backpack filled with two books and information on our local libraries. Thank you to the United Way for providing this program to our students!

On Friday, October 27, Kindergarten students at Jefferson carved pumpkins with the help of family members and volunteers. The pumpkins were provided through a generous donation from Believers Church here in Warren. Thank you to our special guests that included Mayor Franklin, school board member Regina Patterson, as well as several volunteers from Believers Church. This is an annual event held here at the school for our Kindergarten.

On Tuesday, October 3rd, family members of our Jefferson 3rd graders were invited to the school for a family day. Families learned about the importance of reading for their student and were able to participate in a fun story activity with their child. Thank you to all the families that attended.

On Friday, September 29th, K-2 students at Jefferson were treated to a special pancake breakfast as a ‘thank you’ for all their hard work during the first month of school. Our special guest, Mr. Chiaro helped to prepare the pancakes for the students.
