Students on a Rock and Roll Adventure!

On Friday, April 19, 2024 WGH students who are taking the course Evolution of Music took an education field trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland accompanied by Mr. Ensley, Mr. Whitacre, and Mr. Rising. This trip provided the opportunity for students to enrich their understanding of the history of rock and roll by offering a holistic and immersive learning experience that went beyond what can be covered in the traditional classroom setting.

Through this experience, students were able to make real-world connections to the content taught in course. Students analyzed artifacts, exhibits, and multimedia presentations to identify and reflect on key moments, artists, and movements in the history of rock and roll and music as a larger discipline.

Raiders Read @ WGH

The Reading Raider Program is designed to get books in the hands of young adults, supporting and reinforcing the good habits and joy of reading as well as creating a home library for students attending the Warren City Schools.

At Warren G. Harding the Reading Raiders program has taken the shape of a “Book Store” where students can come and “Shop” for a book or two of their choice.

Growing in the Library

Students in the WGH Library began by planting herbs back in September and have added microgreens, tomatoes, and lettuce to the mix! Reaping the benefits of their efforts the students have enjoyed Caprese Salad, which used the basil they grew, Ranch Dip featuring Dill, and Tabouli which contained both parsley and mint.

Students monitor the hydroponic systems that are growing the herbs and vegetables and add water and food when indicated. The students are assisted by Mrs. Angelo and Mrs. Latessa.

GO RAIDERS!

October is Make-a Difference Month !

From Ms. Scarmack:

October is an exciting time in the Principles of Foods cooking classes as students participate in “Make a Difference October.” Each week throughout the month of October, students in the cooking class will prepare baked good items and then decide as a lab group how much of their baked goods to donate to nonprofit organizations in Warren.

Students spent time researching local nonprofit organizations and the organizations with the most votes will receive the donations over the next few weeks as a way to give back to the Warren community. Students then call to arrange the drop off, work in their lab groups to prepare the baked good item and then drop off the items with Mrs. Scarmack. 5 students went to deliver 20 pans of Caramel Apple Crisp to Warren Family Mission. Those 5 students are: Faith Mason, Darien Monday, Erica Brooks, Jurnee Brantley and She’Ayla Allen. See picture attached.

Attached is the picture of the students who delivered 187 chocolate chip cookies to Some Place Safe on Wed. 10/18. The students who are pictured are Donavan Boyd, Braylin Dyson, Imani Ellison-Lyons, Bryan Powell, Andrew Waldman and CJ (Clarence) Williams.
