McGuffey welcomed Warren’s own musical talent, Dennis Drummond! Dennis spoke to the students about his time growing up in Warren, his passion for music and being on the voice. The students enjoyed their time with him. We are so proud of Dennis!

Spelling Bee at McGuffey
On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, McGuffey held their annual Spelling Bee. Two winners were declared! Justine Hartle won 1st place and Micah Morgan runner up in the 6-8 pod and Austin Blackwell won 1st place and Monica Ruckman runner up in the 3-5 pod.
Congratulation to all who participated and to Mrs. Kovach for organizing the event!
Game Night at McGuffey
At McGuffey’s 1st family game night.Thursday, January 25 over 100 students and their families came to enjoy dinner and music before the games began! Allyson Smith, Director of Ed, Consultant/Intervention teacher as well as, a story teller of African American History.
After dinner the games began, featuring “The Family Feud”! The waiting list was long to compete, as one team after another was knocked out of the competition. We also had board games and twister.
The night was a huge success!
Victory Christian Center Serves Christmas Lunch for Some Lucky McGuffey Families
Victory Christian Donates Classroom Library to Mrs. Hitchings and Mrs. Marciano
A huge thank you goes out to Victory Christian Church for the wonderful classroom library they donated. Mrs. Hitchings and Mrs. Marciano and their students are so grateful and excited for the new books and equipment for their classroom. The students can’t wait to get busy reading!
Mayor Franklin Visits McGuffey’s Lego Squads
Mayor Franklin and Mike McMillian from Warren’s Waste Water Department came to McGuffey so the robotics teams could present their projects before the competition. Along with the skits and projects from both Titonics and Lego Squad, Titonics members showed them how the robot runs and performs tasks on the mission board.
Titonics Move on to Districts
The students of the McGuffey F.I.R.S.T. Lego League, Titonics, take first place in the areas of Project Award, Health and Safety Award and are moving on to Districts. Six of the team members won Individual awards for Professionalism!

Bigs in Blue
Bigs in Blue is a one-to-one mentoring program that connects youth with police in communities throughout our nation, building strong, trusting, lasting relationships. These relationships can help children develop into confident adults and help build stronger bonds between law enforcement and the families they serve. Bigs in Blue is a part of Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
December 19, 2017 ~ Chipotle Fundraiser in Niles
Help our 8th graders go to Washington, DC in May by enjoying dinner at Chipotle in Niles. You can dine in or take out, you can go by yourself or take your family and friends. When you go to the cash register, just tell them that you are there for McGuffey and Chipotle will take care of the rest!
Limousine and Lunch Bunch
On November 27, 2017 eighteen students from third grade through 8th grade were taken by Limousine to Ponderosa for lunch. These students earned lunch by selling the most items of all the students at McGuffey from our fundraiser! Congratulations to all.
