As part of Jefferson’s College and Career Week, Warren City’s Sixth Ward Councilwoman Honeya Price talked to middle school students. As a Warren City graduate herself, she shared her journey through school and how her experiences led to becoming a councilwoman for the city. Thank you to Councilwoman Price for taking time out of her busy schedule to share her inspiring story with the students.
Students in grades kindergarten through second grade celebrated the 100th day of school with with Minute to Win it games, 100th day themed learning activities and a glow party at the end of the day. We are definitely 100 days brighter here at the ‘J’!
One student from grades kindergarten through fifth grade was chosen to represent Jefferson in a national handwriting contest sponsored by Zaner-Bloser. Winners will be announced in the spring; good luck to our participants!
Jefferson fifth graders recently attended Camp Fitch. Students spent a few days at the camp interacting with animals, learning about the area, gaining skills in activities such as archery, and having an all-around wonderful time near Lake Erie.
Students in third and fourth grade invited families into their classroom to experience a literacy lesson. Teachers led a full lesson and their student showed the process they went through to complete their work. Thank you to all the family members that took time out of their day to see the great things happening at the ‘J’!
Thanks to the generosity of members of Believers Church, every student in grades K-2 received Christmas gifts this December. All the gifts were purchased and wrapped by members of the church. We then had volunteers from the church deliver the gifts to some very happy students. Thank you again, Believers Church!
Elementary classrooms welcomed families for a variety of events prior to the winter break. Students and their guests were treated to stories, treats, and activities. Thank you to all the families that took time out of their day to come and spend time with their student.
Jefferson held its spelling bee for grades three through five and also for grades six through eight. Students worked for weeks leading up the event. Our winners will represent Jefferson at the regional spelling bee. Great job to all the participants.
Jefferson students in grades three through five celebrated before the holidays with their annual snowflake ball. Students earned points leading up to the event that they were able to use to redeem treats. The highlight occurred when two fifth grade students were named king and queen of the ball. They were chosen based on their essays that every fifth grader had written. Middle school student council members also helped at the ball. A special thank you to Mrs. Mesaros for organizing this event each year.
