{"id":4301,"date":"2021-12-15T13:36:13","date_gmt":"2021-12-15T18:36:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.warrencityschools.org\/wgh\/?p=4301"},"modified":"2021-12-15T13:39:07","modified_gmt":"2021-12-15T18:39:07","slug":"harding-seniors-recognized-as-twenty-under-20-finalists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.warrencityschools.org\/wgh\/2021\/12\/15\/harding-seniors-recognized-as-twenty-under-20-finalists\/","title":{"rendered":"Harding Seniors Recognized As Twenty Under 20 Finalists"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Casey Owsley, Anthony Payiavlas and Camryn Stewart each accepted their Twenty Under 20 Awards Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They joined the other members of the 2021 Class made up of the most impressive young leaders in Trumbull County. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program, co-sponsored by the Tribune Chronicle, Akron Children\u2019s Hospital Mahoning Valley and Kent State University at Trumbull, honors 20 high-achieving individuals younger than 20 for their leadership skills through volunteerism, extracurricular activities and academic achievements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.warrencityschools.org\/wgh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2021\/12\/group-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.warrencityschools.org\/wgh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2021\/12\/group-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.warrencityschools.org\/wgh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2021\/12\/group-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.warrencityschools.org\/wgh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2021\/12\/group-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.warrencityschools.org\/wgh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2021\/12\/group-200x150.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.warrencityschools.org\/wgh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2021\/12\/group-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.warrencityschools.org\/wgh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2021\/12\/group.jpg 1123w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Guidance Counselor Sue Mizik says that Casey \u201cunderstands the value of service to others and has maintained that outlook through great personal loss.\u201d Her family has been hit hard by COVID-19, and experienced the loss of her grandmother and cousin due to the virus. Even so, Casey has maintained a 4.2 GPA, and continues to participate in the WGH marching band and symphonic bands and several extracurricular activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anthony says he likes \u201chelping out the less fortunate, giving them hope.\u201d He likes \u201cbeing there for someone,\u201d and feels it\u2019s his job to help. Anthony has been captain of the boys golf and tennis teams since 2019. He is active with the Greek Orthodox Youth Association and has been a member of the National Honor Society since 8th grade. He maintains a 4.1 GPA. Harding counselor Erin Kampf-Melillo says of Anthony that he \u201chas engaged himself in our school environment in a way that makes a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Camryn says it\u2019s her \u201cpassion to help others who need it.\u201d She has maintained a 3.9 GPA while taking difficult advanced placement classes and college-credit plus courses. She is active on her school\u2019s volleyball and softball teams, and serves as manager of the girls basketball team. She has added participating with National honor Society\u2019s Big Brother\/Big Sister mentor program to her long list of commitments.
